Dr. Motte

Dr. Motte is one of Berlin’s foundational electronic music artists who truly qualifies for the title of legendary. As an iconic figure in the scene, DJ, producer, and remixer from Techno’s pioneering vanguard, he initiated and successfully staged what became the largest cultural celebration of music, tolerance, and love the world has ever seen: the Loveparade. Despite his global recognition and an impressively long list of achievements, Dr. Motte has stayed true to his ideals and to the underground that has been his home for decades.

Through his consciously chosen way of life, he remains a peace activist attuned to the zeitgeist, standing for love, unity, and tolerance while working passionately to preserve and develop electronic music culture. In 2019, he returned as the mastermind behind the Rave The Planet concept, a new parade for a new era. Alongside organizing the parade, educational exhibitions, and releasing new music, the non-profit organization he founded successfully campaigned to have Berlin’s Techno culture recognized on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list.

His sound is sophisticated, energetic, and multi-faceted. Combining bouncing acid elements and rousing club grooves with driving, heavy beats, Dr. Motte takes his audience on a colorful trip through his musical universe, staying consistently relevant and revered across generations of Techno fans.
